NEW ORLEANS -- The Golden State Warriors came back from 17 points down to pick up their first win of the season, rallying to beat the New Orleans Pelicans 128-120 on Friday night at Smoothie King Center.
新奥尔良讯—星期五晚上，金州勇士在Smoothie King Center以128-120客场击败新奥尔良鹈鹕，在落后17分的情况下逆转对手，夺取了本赛季的首场胜利。
Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 31 points, while Stephen Curry added 28. The Warriors survived monster double-doubles from Anthony Davis (35 points, 17 rebounds) and DeMarcus Cousins (35 points, 13 rebounds).
"We’re just not ready. We’re not ready to put together a complete game," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "We’re basically still in training camp in my mind, given how may practices we’ve had ... We’re still working on everything, and that’s pretty obvious. We’re just not there yet."
Golden State (1-1) started the game off lethargically, and its transition defense was spotty after giving up 39 first-quarter points. New Orleans (0-2) secured most of the 50-50 balls.
"We didn’t make shots and we didn’t defend," Draymond Green said. "I was telling the guys after the quarter, we’re shooting fine. That will come. But if we play some defense, we’re down 31-26 as opposed to 39-26.
"We can’t let teams get in a rhythm like that."
Frustration set in early for the Warriors, and in the second quarter, things got a little chippy.
To the dismay of Green, he was hit with a quick technical foul after shoving Cousins in the back as the two fought for position on the court.
While the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year was chasing down the official to explain what happened, Cousins was walking away from the scene, clapping and laughing. At one point, Cousins was urging the officials to toss him out. After Cousins made the technical free throw, the Pelicans held a 57-42 lead.
Later in the quarter, Cousins walked by Green as he was being subbed out. Green was taking the ball out from the sideline. On his way to the bench, Cousins approached Green, and the two had some words. Cousins then was assessed a technical.
"I love Draymond," Cousins said. "Just two competitors, man. That’s like my brother. It’s all love at the end of the day ... I thought I was getting in his head, and then he came right back at me. But we both looked foolish at the end of the day."
The Warriors’ power forward said there was some gamesmanship going on between the two, but he insists it wasn’t his initial strategy.
"I wouldn’t necessarily say the technical [I got] was trying to get under his skin," Green said. "He put his armpit in my face. And he flopped a little bit on the push, but you know, whatever."
Green called Cousins a "brother."
"That’s my guy," Green said of Couisns. "Great relationship. Brother of mine. We won a gold medal together, so that’s a relationship that will be there for a lifetime. It’s fun playing against him because he such a great talent. Such a tough person to stop, but I have to try to use any advantage I can, especially when he has it going like that."
Kevin Durant captured a career-high seven blocks to go with 22 points and 10 rebounds. During one sequence in the game, he blocked Tony Allen twice within seconds -- with only one shoe on.
"I got my hands on some basketballs," Durant said. "I just tried to contest every shot. I tried to help my teammates on drives, and I was able to be in the right position."
Kerr praised his versatile forward: "[He has] the ability to guard pretty much every position on the floor; it’s a rare combination."
The Warriors outscored the Pelicans 67-56 in the second half. Golden State now has won 12 consecutive games over New Orleans, which includes a 4-0 sweep in the opening round of the 2015 playoffs.
The Warriors travel to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies on Saturday in the second game of a back-to-back.
